Game Essentials (Intro to Game Animation)

Animators gain the skills needed to succeed in the dynamic gaming industry and complete assignments in a game development context. Upon finishing the courses, students will have essential demo reel material for video game animator roles, including gameplay and cinematics. Students learn game theory, engines, and a basic understanding of the pipeline. Students create player and enemy animations, using AnimSchool’s game character rigs. It’s about GAMING! Each week, students should sendtheir teacher a current export of their animation (.fbx) to be viewed in the engine, and also provide a playblast from Maya. Students are also expected to play new games and be prepared to discuss their preferences and critiques. Prerequisites: Introduction to 3D Animation, Animating Characters, or equivalent experience. A basic understanding of animation principles and body mechanics is required. Students must meet the system requirements to run Unreal.
